One of the wonderful benefits of being a member of WSA-OC is the opportunity to enjoy reciprocal privileges at participating yacht clubs. Reciprocal privileges allow our members to visit certain yacht clubs as guests and enjoy amenities such as dining, social events, and hospitality while traveling or exploring other harbors.

WSA-OC currently has reciprocal privileges with the following clubs:
● American Legion Yacht Club
● Buccaneer Yacht Club
● Canyon Lake Yacht Club

● Coronado Cays Yacht Club

● Channel Islands Yacht Club
● Dana Point Yacht Club
● Long Beach Singles Yacht Club
● Navy Yacht Club Long Beach
● Navy Yacht Club San Diego
● Newport Harbor Elks Yacht Club
● Oceanside Yacht Club
● Santa Barbara Sailing Club
● Santa Margarita Yacht Club
● Santa Monica Windjammers Yacht Club
● Seal Beach Yacht Club
● South Coast Corinthian Yacht Club
● South Shore Yacht Club

Please note that reciprocal privileges can change at any time, and each yacht club has its own individual policies and requirements. Some clubs require advance notice reservations, a letter of introduction, presentation of a membership card, specific dress codes, or other procedures before your visit.

For this reason, I ask that members please contact me before using reciprocal privileges so I can help ensure you have the proper information and documentation for the club you plan to visit. My goal is to help make your experience smooth and enjoyable while also maintaining positive relations with our reciprocal clubs.

If you have not received your WSA-OC membership card or name tag, please contact our Membership Director.

I encourage everyone to enjoy this special benefit of membership and explore the hospitality of our fellow yacht clubs throughout the boating community.

Fair winds,

Debby Label 2026

Thank you to all of our boat owners and participating members for making the first half of the year’s OTW event so fabulous!

Our next On-The-Water event is our Annual Catalina Extravaganza taking place on July 16 – 29, 2026. Sign–ups for this event began in early June, so the event is now full.

We will open the event with our traditional Commodore’s Toast on Thursday,  July 16th. Then, move into our progressive dinghy dinner, while the remainder of the weekend will be spent hiking, playing in the water, and socializing with each other.

REMEMBER for Future OTW events:
1. Sign-up will be announced approx. 2 weeks before the event, except for Catalina, which will be just over a month in advance.
2. Sign-up is sent to emails as well as placed on the WSA-OC Members Only Facebook page
3. Events sell out quickly
4. PLEASE sign up for the Wait List, as we can regularly find additional boats and get members onto a boat
5. Arrive on time for photos before boat launch
6. Cancellations within 48 hours of the event will not be refunded

If you are a boat owner and would be willing to take WSA-OC members aboard for any of our upcoming on-the-water events, please get in touch with me. We would love to include as many members as possible on the water this year.

** Dates, locations, and times are subject to change based on boat availability and weather.

Please mark your calendars for these upcoming 2026 OTW events:

July 16th – 19th – Annual Trip to Catalina – Two Harbors
August 15th – Tropical Luau
September 20th – Pirate Party

Happy Summer,

I hope everyone has been enjoying the longer days and spending plenty of time out on the water.

We had a wonderful turnout for our June guest speaker, Laura Baker-Rowe, who shared an informative presentation about LA28. For those of you who were unable to attend, I have included a link to her talk.

Several members have expressed interest in getting together for more social events, so we thought July would be the perfect time to do just that.

Join us at BCYC for an evening of Nautical Trivia, with Cynthia Priddy acting as our game host. Whether you are a seasoned sailor or simply enjoy good company, come test your maritime knowledge, share a few laughs, and enjoy an evening with fellow club members.

We’d love to see you there!

Summer Membership Drive is On

WSA-OC is hosting a membership drive as part of a friendly competition against  WSA-SMB.

Each new recruit earns you 1 point, and recruiting a boat owner earns 2 points. The member with the most points by the end of the drive will receive a small prize, plus some well-earned bragging rights! Competition ends August 31st. The winner will be announced on September 9th at the general meeting!

End of Summer Clothing Swap

Join us for a fun Clothing & Maritime Swap hosted by Cherie Faulds! Planned for the end of August, this relaxed gathering is the perfect chance to trade treasures and enjoy a summer evening together. Bring up to 5 items to swap, such as clothing, jewelry, nautical décor, or sailing gear. Bring a dish for the potluck, sip on margaritas, and enjoy a night of good company and great finds!

You can reach me, Jeanette Jordan, by email at

Ahoy, mates!

Summer is in full swing, and Philanthropy is keeping busy with exciting projects and community
partnerships! New members, please join us!

Hats for Sailors – Ongoing
“Star Loomer” and fellow WSA-OC member Cherie Faulds, who has already knitted eight beanies,
hosted a Happy Hour last month where members shared their latest creations and exchanged ideas
for new stitches and patterns for Hats for Sailors, a charity that supports U.S. Navy sailors. There’s
still time to join the effort and make a hat or two before the December 1 deadline to complete this
year’s collection!

Girl Scouts of Orange County - Ongoing
The Girl Scout sailboat fleet continues to grow. Camp James in Newport currently houses five
Sabots, while a camp near Idyllwild has 12, with plans underway to add even more boats. We’ve
also learned that several boats in the existing fleet are ready to sail and that most Girl Scouts have
little or no sailing experience. As more details become available, the Philanthropy Committee plans
to develop a program that could ultimately lead to a joint WSA-OC/Girl Scout-OC patch.

AdventureSail® 2026 – September or October, Dana Point Harbor
We have found a new local partner to continue our annual tradition of making sailing more
accessible to girls aged 9-14. The Boys & Girls Club of Laguna Beach Canyon (BGC-LB) is excited
to partner with us for a memorable afternoon on the water once its summer programs conclude.
We’re looking for volunteers to help make the event a success, especially four boat owners, whether sail or power. Stay tuned for the event date and additional details!

AdventureSail® 2025 – NWSA Scholarship
We’re working with the Boys &; Girls Club of San Clemente to secure a $300 NWSA scholarship for
one girl who attended AdventureSail® 2025. WSA-OC is also pitching in another $300 for a second
girl at BGC-SC. Both girls will learn the basics of boating safety, rigging, and points of sail, and then
take those skills to the next level by sailing at our partner Westwind Sailing (well known for its youth
programs).

Women in the Wind 2026 – October 11, Newport Harbor
We’re already getting things rolling for our second annual event with Soroptimist International of
Huntington Beach. We’ll be inviting beneficiaries of their programs to join us for a day on the water.
Many of our guests are the primary financial providers for their households and are pursuing education to build a better life for themselves and their dependents. Some have been through challenges that are hard for most of us to even imagine. For many, Women in the Wind is their very first time on a boat, and it can help them work through a fear of water or simply build the confidence
to try something new. This activity is truly about empowering women on the water!

Have a new philanthropy idea or a suggestion for ongoing activities? Email Philanthropy@wsaoc.org

or text Greta at 336-706-5046.
