The weather is perfect for getting out on the water! I am hearing so many great stories of our members being out on the water in every way - cruising, racing and just plain having fun!! Life is good!
Catalina is sold out! Our Vice Commodore has been hard at work putting together a fun agenda! We are actively working to encourage some of our other member boat owners to join us so that we can accommodate more members in our signature event of the year! If you are a boat owner, why not host a couple of members for the last weekend of the month and make new memories while helping WSA-OC with the mission of educating and getting women out on the water! We have a mooring waiting just for you!! It just takes two and you have new crew!
I want thank our Rear Commodore for putting together some amazing General Meetings -- if you were at our Newport Meeting last month, you heard the circumnavigation adventures of the Lawler's and we were able to tour their boat "Traveler". It was really a terrific meeting and the socializing of course was in top form. I encourage you, especially the new members - to come out to July meeting in Dana Point - it will be equally as good! While we are offering Zoom as an option, it's a heck of a lot more fun in person and you can shop at the Ship Store too!
I am putting a call out to ALL WSA-OC members to get involved in beach clean up events. We have a long standing tradition of supporting groups like Stand Up to Trash to keep our local waters and beaches free from debris. Did you know that the trash collected by Stand Up to Trash helped to create the whale tail sculpture that is at the entry of Dana Point Harbor? It's making a difference! Let's see you all out there on July 17th!
Happy sailing!
On Saturday, June 18th, 18 of our WSA-OC sea-sisters met at Marina Park, for Sailstice. We had perfect weather for the 3 boats generously donated for use in this event – Bella Rose, Bonnie Doon and No Ka Oi – Skippered by Rose Henigman, Barbara Kelley and Lori Romano respectively. Thank you, Skippers! Post sail we met up on No Ka Oi to share our day's sail, general visiting, laughter and shared food and drinks 😀
Catalina is happening July 28th - July 31st, and plans are underway for a fun-filled event! Registration began on Jun 23rd for our signature event and unsurprisingly spots filled in 72 Hours! If you are interested in being placed on a wait list please email me at vicecommodore@wsaoc.org as I will be taking names in event of cancellations.
If you are a boat owner who has not yet signed up to join us, please do so! We are always open to adding additional boats and crew to this always sold-out event.
Finally, we will have our Annual Raft-Up event on 8/20. We are advertising for our boat owners willing to take along crew for a day of sun and fun in Emerald Bay for this informal gathering. If you are one of those boat owners please let me know asap so we can plan this event.
Stay on top of all the upcoming events on our Members-Only Facebook page and on our website: www.wsaoc.org/events
Gear up with items from our store and show off your pride as a member of WSA-OC! We really want to show off at the Catalina event. Click below to grab some of our new Summer inventory!!
Back by request, we will be providing an option to attend our July meeting virtually via zoom, however, if you enjoy a fabulous goody bag like I do, you’ll want to attend in person! ZOOM LINK
Our July speaker, Sarah Stokes of Juice Beauty, will be teaching us some important lessons about SKINCARE, SUNSCREEN & SPF, and it’s NOT what we think! As women who enjoy being on the water, ALL THREE of these topics are most likely of interest, I know they are to me!
As always, if you have any suggestions for topics or speakers you would like us to have at an upcoming meeting, or, if you are interested in being our 'Boat of the Month' at an upcoming meeting, please send me an email at rearcommodore@wsaoc.org.
Sea you on July 13th at Aventura in Dana Point or via Zoom!
Ahoy Sailors,
Summer is Here! The next waves are our Philanthropic events and you’ll want to catch these for sure!
Sunday, August 7th AdventureSail®: we’ll take a group of young ladies from the Boys and Girls Club of San Clemente out for a day of fun, sailing and inspiration. This is our opportunity to influence the future women of our community about the beauty and power of the sea and the strength and fulfillment we get when we enjoy and protect it.
Saturday, September 17th: Women in the Wind: women experiencing recent health and life struggles who need some support and encouragement will receive it when we partner with Soroptimist for this event. This day sail will include lunch, a little pampering, a gift bag and most importantly personal empowerment. At the end of the event these women are inspired by our WSAOC Sea-sters who exemplify strength and confidence even after many of us have come from challenging circumstances as well.
We need boats!!! The number of girls and women we can accommodate is relative to the number of WSAOC members who share their boats. This is the time to join in and share to make a difference in someone’s life.
Come join your WSAOC Sea-sters in Dana Point at Baby Beach or the Ocean Institute on
It’s really fun, easy and you might win a prize for the most unusual find!
Included in the days events is a free lunch and learn
